Who we serve

Owner-operated service businesses doing $500,000 to $5 million

Two to twenty people. Too big to carry the numbers in your head. Your time is better spent on what you do best than on what we do best.

That is where bad books get expensive fastest.

Industries we know

Three groups where we already understand the numbers

Every set of books is different, and so is every owner. These are the three where we have closed enough months to know what the statements should look like before we open them.

Trades and construction

Job costing is where these books break. Revenue lands in lumps. Materials and labor hit in a different month than the invoice. A job that felt profitable turns out to have carried three others.

  • Core: Residential remodelers, roofing, site prep and excavation
  • Adjacent: Electrical, plumbing and HVAC

Food and hospitality

Prime cost runs the business and most books will not show it. Food, beverage and labor need to be readable weekly. Inventory counted, not estimated. Comps and voids somewhere you can see them.

  • Core: Full-service restaurants, meat markets and butchers
  • Adjacent: Bars and taverns

Health practices

Production, collections and adjustments must match your practice software first. Insurance timing distorts cash against revenue. Owner comp needs to sit where a lender understands it.

  • Core: Dentists and chiropractors
  • Adjacent: Other owner-run practitioner offices

Fit

When this works

  • You are the owner and the decisions stop with you.
  • Revenue is somewhere between $500,000 and $5 million and the mistakes have started costing real money.
  • You have QuickBooks, or you are willing to move to it.
  • You want to know where you stand well enough to decide. Grow, hold or sell.

Honesty

When it does not

  • You need an audit or a specific attestation. That is a different engagement and we will point you to it.
  • You want the cheapest monthly number available. There are providers at $99 and $199 and they are easy to find.
  • Nobody on your side wants the books fixed. We cannot want it more than you do, and engagements where we try do not end well for either of us.

Where we are

Dallas based, working nationwide

Both partners are in Dallas Fort Worth, so plenty of our clients are neighbors. The work has been remote since 2006, about fourteen years before most firms tried it. Wherever you are, the close is the same close.

Being nearby does not change the quality of a close. Having someone senior read it does.

Find out in one month, not one quarter

Send us your most recent close. You will see what we catch in your trade before you commit. If we would be learning on your time, we will say so.
